Our pharmacy department plays an integral role in the high-quality care that we provide at Piedmont Medical Center. Whether you’re staying with us for a while or being discharged tomorrow with a prescription, Piedmont’s comprehensive pharmaceutical
services will be able to provide the medication you need. Our pharmacy team works closely with your healthcare team to insure that you are receiving the most effective and safe doses to help manage your health.
Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology
Certified pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work to optimize your therapies and insure prescription orders are filled and dispensed accurately. With the help of the Pharmogistics carousel and Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets, we are able to maintain
an accurate, searchable inventory of all medications. These can be conveniently accessed from any healthcare provider within the hospital.
Piedmont has designated clinical pharmacists who collaborate with your healthcare team to make sure the medication you are receiving is effective and efficient for treating your conditions. If you are taking antibiotics, our antibiotic stewardship team
will optimize your antibiotic therapy with the support of an infectious disease doctor to reduce resistance to medication and insure that your infection is responding properly. We also have specialized operating room pharmacists who supply anesthesia
and are on hand to deliver any unanticipated medication that may be needed during a surgical operation.
Some patients may require the administration of medication intravenously. Our IV room follows USP 797 standards to control sterility of all infusion procedures and solutions. Whether you’re staying with us in the hospital or being treated on an
outpatient basis, our infusion therapy services will safely manage your medication regimen.
Our retail pharmacy is open to the public:
Monday - Friday: 9am to 5pm (closed for lunch from 1pm to 2pm) Saturday: 9am to 1pm
Our retail pharmacy offers competitive prices for prescription medications,
refills and other basic health and wellness items such as over-the-counter medications. Located in the Heart and Vascular Center corridor next to the Emergency Department on the first floor of the hospital, the retail pharmacy accepts South Carolina
Medicaid and most prescription insurance cards, as well as serving as a medication pick-up point for York County Free Clinic.
