Connect with others
We know how important it is to connect with other patients who are going through what you are going through. That’s why Piedmont Medical Center has so many opportunities for you to connect with each other thanks to our variety of special events.
Beyond Breast Cancer
Our support group for breast cancer survivors is led by our Oncology Nurse Navigator. The group meets every first and third Thursday of the month at the Women's Diagnostic Center (218 S. Herlong Ave - right outside of the hospital).
The Knit Chicks is a fun, informal group for cancer survivors who enjoy knitting and crocheting. Participants bring their own projects and supplies. While knitting and crocheting, trading patterns and expertise, attendees get to enjoy each other's company, get mutual support from other cancer patients, and improve their skills all at the same time. All skill levels welcome. This group meets in the Women's Tower 4th Floor Conference Room (Rm 402). For a schedule of upcoming meetings, contact PMC's Oncology Nurse Navigator at (803) 323-2935.
Look Good Feel Better
This program is co-sponsored by Piedmont, the American Cancer Society and The National Cosmetology Association. This free program teaches beauty techniques to women undergoing treatment for cancer to help them combat the appearance-related side effects of treatment. Techniques on how to cope with skin changes and hair loss using cosmetics and skin care products are also offered. To register, please call 1-800-277-2345 and stay on the line to speak with a specialist, or call the Cancer Nurse Navigator at 1-803-323-2935 for more information.
