Because Breakfast Doesn’t Take a Summer Vacation
Rock Hill, SC – Piedmont Medical Center is pleased to announce that it donated 41,175 servings of cereal and $3800 to local non-profit organizations during its Healthy Over Hungry® Cereal Drive, which ran from June 1-8, 2018.
Honorable contributions include an anonymous donor who donated $1,000 in a fund-match challenge and Isaiah Reid, a rising senior at South Pointe High School. Isaiah’s mother works in the Pharmacy at Piedmont Medical Center and encouraged her son to get involved in the cereal drive. Isaiah accepted the challenge and called friends, family and his soccer teammates to collect 134 boxes of cereal – that’s 1,600 servings of cereal!
“Good nutrition is essential to good health, and we wanted to help lead the fight against hunger in York County,” said Mark Nosacka, chief executive officer of Piedmont Medical Center. “I am grateful for the support of our staff, community partners and community members like Isaiah in this effort.”
The cereal drive benefitted Second Harvest Food Bank, Pilgrim’s Inn and the Children’s Attention Home. Donations were received from employees, physicians, and multiple local companies, including York Electric Cooperative, Comporium, York County Sherriff’s Department, Epps Orthodontics, Miller and Dixon Orthodontics, 3D Systems, the Children’s Museum of York County and Resolute Forest Products.
