Piedmont Medical Center is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Dr. Ryan Gianatasio as the Medical Director of the hospital’s Neuroscience Program.

“Providing high-quality neurological services in York County is a great privilege and with Dr. Gianatasio at the helm of our Neuroscience Program and part of the Piedmont Neuroscience Institute, we are confident that our patients will benefit immensely,” said Mark Nosacka, chief executive officer of Piedmont Medical Center. “By offering neurological services, local residents and visitors can feel assured that we are here to care for their medical emergencies in a timely manner.”

“My interest in Neurology came from my medical school rotations in the emergency room,” shared Dr. Gianatasio. “I was fascinated by the acute stroke process and the possibilities of rescue medications and procedures to help reverse the effects a stroke can cause. I knew then that I wanted to go into neurology and more specifically stroke neurology. I have always tried to approach each patient like a family member. I ask ‘What would I do or recommend to my mother, brother, wife, or children?’ This philosophy along with keeping current with evidence-based guidelines have helped me provide quality and consistent care throughout my career.”

Dr. Gianatasio is double board-certified in neuroendovascular and vascular neurology. Prior to joining the medical staff at Piedmont Medical Center, he served as a Stroke Medical Director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Texas Stroke Institute. When he is not practicing medicine, Dr. Gianatasio enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, three children and two German Pointers.
