Rock Hill, SC - Piedmont Medical Center welcomes Matthew Hinkle, MHA, BSN, CNOR, RN as the hospital’s new Chief Operating Officer.

In this role, Hinkle serves as the senior executive responsible for all day-to-day operations at Piedmont Medical Center. This includes providing direction and assistance in the development of progressive physician and facility strategies to optimize the long-term potential of the hospital.

“Matthew is swiftly becoming an integral member of our staff thanks to his extensive career in healthcare which began at the bedside,” said Mark Nosacka, Piedmont Medical Center CEO.  “His commitment to the continued growth and advancement of Piedmont Medical Center became evident during his first interview and I am confident in his ability to help us fulfill our mission of providing safe, high quality care throughout York County.”

“The people at PMC are exceptional and when I interviewed, I noticed the collaborative, positive and inviting culture,” said Hinkle. “My approach to this role is to listen, observe and act. I aim to listen to those around me, as they are the experts of their domain. I will observe the processes, workflows and outcomes, then act to make measurable positive impact.”

Prior to joining Piedmont Medical Center, Hinkle served as Vice President of Operations at Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, SC. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Sentara College of Health Sciences, followed by a Master of Health Administration degree from Bellevue University. An interesting fact about Hinkle is his first healthcare job was as a nurse extern working in the float pool.

“My girlfriend at the time, who is now my wife, encouraged me to apply for the nursing program at the community college we were attending. She worked as a scrub tech at the local hospital and loved it. As a nurse extern, I had the pleasure of working and learning in every unit in the hospital. I went on to work in the operating room as a registered nurse and have lead nursing, procedural, and ancillary departments throughout my career. I enjoy helping others which makes working in healthcare personally fulfilling,” shared Hinkle.

Together with his wife of 15 years Shannon, Hinkle enjoys concerts, traveling and sporting events during his time outside of the office.
