Piedmont Medical Center is pleased to join the South Carolina Surgical Quality Collaborative (SC SQC), operated by Health Sciences South Carolina. This statewide research initiative aims to improve surgical quality and address outcome disparities.

Piedmont Medical Center is the tenth (10th) healthcare system across the state to join the SC SQC, which was established in 2015 with funding from the BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Foundation. The vision of the SC SQC is to enable delivery of highly reliable, evidence-based, and patient-centered general surgical care to all South Carolinians.

“This initiative is rooted in similar principles that are at the core of Piedmont Medical Center’s commitment to improving the quality of care for all patients,” said Mark Nosacka, chief executive officer of Piedmont Medical Center. “Participating in the South Carolina Surgical Quality Collaborative helps us to improve patient outcomes for not only our patients, but also patients throughout the state.”

By using near real-time, reported clinical data from participating medical facilities, metrics and benchmark data are shared with surgical leaders to aid in identifying improvement opportunities and implementing best practices. This comprehensive, collaborative and data-driven approach creates an engaged surgical community.

“Piedmont Medical Center’s dedication to high-quality, high touch health care services is apparent in all they do,” said Ken Deans, HSSC CEO. “They are well-known in the Rock Hill community and beyond for their quality of service and dedicated focus to the whole patient. Such demonstration and intentionality of service aligns perfectly with the South Carolina Surgical Quality Collaborative’s mission and patient-centered focus. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome Piedmont Medical Center into the collaborative as we seek to continuously improve and further enhance surgical outcomes in South Carolina.”
