Piedmont Medical Center Honored with Four Achievement Awards from American Heart Association

Piedmont Medical Center is proud to announce it has received four (4) Get With The Guidelines® Achievement Awards from the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association. The four awards recognize the hospital’s commitment to ensuring patient receive the most appropriate treatment in accordance with nationally recognized, research-based guidelines founded in the latest scientific evidence.
The awards are: Heart Failure Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Honor Roll Elite Gold Plus, Resuscitation Gold Plus, and Mission: Lifeline® Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Silver Plus.
“Piedmont Medical Center is committed to improving the quality of care for all patients,” said Mark Nosacka, chief executive officer of Piedmont Medical Center. “The tools and resources provided by the American Heart Association help us track and measure our success in meeting evidenced-based clinical guidelines developed to improve patient outcomes.”
To qualify for the Target: Stroke Award, hospitals must meet quality measures developed to reduce the time between the patient’s arrival at the hospital and treatment with the clot-buster tissue plasminogen activator, or tPA, the only drug approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat ischemic stroke.

People who come to Piedmont Medical Center for care should know our staff has implemented best practices to provide great healthcare.”
This is the first year Piedmont Medical Center EMS has received the American Heart Association Mission: Lifeline® EMS Silver Plus Award. This award recognizes emergency medical services for their efforts in improving systems of care to rapidly identify suspected heart attack patients, promptly notify the medical center and trigger an early response from the awaiting hospital personnel.
