Kevin Hart, Manager of Rock Hill Country Club, has a hectic job that keeps him moving. The one-time tennis pro knew he needed to act when his weight climbed to 455 pounds and his job's physical demands took more of a toll.

He talked to members of the country club and attended Piedmont Medical Center’s Surgical Weight-Loss Information Sessions to learn about bariatric surgery as a weight-loss option.

"I received good information that allowed me to make an educated decision," Kevin says. "The support before and after surgery was incredible. The care I received at Piedmont was second to none."

One week after surgery, Kevin was walking on the treadmill for half-hour durations.  He lost 70 pounds the first month after surgery.  "People who are not obese don’t realize that minor feats, such as fitting into the bathroom on an airplane, are impossible," he says

Kevin has lost more than 200 pounds since his surgery in 2008, his health concerns have disappeared, and he has returned to Piedmont’s support group to share his story with others considering bariatric surgery. "I have my quality of life back," he says.
