Piedmont Medical Center receives highest honors
Hospital named to Circle of Excellence
ROCK HILL, S.C. – June 7, 2005 – Tenet Healthcare Corporation (NYSE: THC) has announced that Piedmont Medical Center in Rock Hill, S.C., led by President and Chief Executive Officer Charlie Miller and his administrative team, has been selected to the company’s 2005 Circle of Excellence.
Tenet’s annual Circle of Excellence award recognizes the winning hospitals’ accomplishments in a number of areas and is intended to honor the teamwork, collaboration and cooperation that are required to operate a successful hospital. Hospitals are evaluated on such factors as high ratings for patient, employee and physician satisfaction, consistency of the hospital leadership team, proven success at overcoming difficult challenges, and financial performance.

Miller, Chief Operating Office Joe Stough, Chief Financial Officer Jay Pennisson and Chief Nursing Officer Janet Greiwe worked very hard this year to maintain high levels of patient satisfaction, as well as grow the hospital. Piedmont undertook a major renovation project that included the conversion of its last semi-private rooms to private. The hospital also revamped is cardiac catheterization services by renovating and expanding to three cardiac cath labs, allowing for continued growth. Finally, the hospital performed well on clinical processes and compliance reviews.
Tenet’s regional executives nominate candidates for the Circle of Excellence from the hospitals they supervise. Winners are based on both objective criteria, such as patient, physician and employee satisfaction scores, and subjective evaluations.
Tenet Healthcare Foundation Awards Scholarships to Children of Piedmont Medical Center Employees
Rock Hill, S.C. – Oct. 4, 2004 – Tenet Healthcare Foundation, a charitable foundation sponsored by Tenet Healthcare Corporation, has awarded college scholarships to five local students, all of whom are children of Piedmont Medical Center employees. This year, Tenet Foundation awarded a total of $295,000 to 179 recipients through the Tenet Children of Employees Scholarship program. Local winners are: William Arant, son of John Arant, who is studying music performance at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh; Benjamin Boduch, son of Jacqueline Boduch, who is studying communications at The College of Charleston; Kendall Funderburk, daughter of Lisa Funderburk, who is studying education for the hearing-impaired at Converse College in Spartanburg; Katie Newman, daughter of Carol Newman, who is studying liberal arts at Columbia International University in Columbia, and Mary K. O’Rourke, daughter of Mary M. O’Rourke, who is pursuing a degree in intercultural studies at Columbia International University. “With the rising costs of higher education, Tenet is pleased to offer this financial assistance to our employees and their children. Wound Care Center receives recognition from national organization
Will serve as model for other wound care programs
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Oct. 1, 2004 – Curative Health Services has designated the Piedmont Wound Care Center a national mentor center. That designation means Piedmont’s program will serve as a model and training site for new wound care teams throughout the Curative network nationally. The Wound Care Center, an outpatient department of Piedmont Medical Center, is operated by Curative. It is located at 1243 Ebenezer Road in Rock Hill. Mentor status means that the program has met quality indicators for healing patients’ chronic wounds and will train doctors, nurses and program directors who are establishing new centers around the country. “The entire team at the Piedmont Wound Care Center deserves this honor,” said Ronnie O’Regan, program director. “We have strong medical leadership and experienced clinical staff who made this achievement one of our goals, and it was their commitment to quality that led to this success.” In recognition of its mentor center status, the Piedmont Wound Care Center received a plaque from Curative to display publicly. Established in 1999, the center serves patients with chronic wounds from York, Chester and Lancaster counties.
