It's a great time to be a woman at Piedmont's new Women's Center.
See slide show
Comfort is evident in every detail at the Women's Center. From relaxing baths to private rooms with a wooden bassinet for baby and a rocking chair for mom. Included in every room are built-in sleeper sofas large enough to double as a bed for dad or a family member, table and chairs for private dining and a TV/VCR and stereo system. There are ten large, beautifully furnished Labor and Delivery (LDR) rooms. Private recovery rooms are complete with Jacuzzi tubs.
In addition, a special care nursery and parenting rooms in the Mom/Baby unit are there for parents who may need extra time getting familiar with their baby's needs.
Our team of physicians and registered nurses includes an on-staff neonatologist, lactation consultants and nurse midwives. And our services, including childbirth education classes, 24-hour neonatology service, surgical services and pediatrics care, give women the compassionate care they need along with a broad scope of educational programs and regular events designed to help them live healthier each day.

Lactation Consultants
Also included in the nursing staff at Piedmont are certified lactation consultants who, along with the staff nurses, provide assistance to mothers who choose to breastfeed their infants. Lactation consultants provide assistance before, during and after hospitalization to expectant and new moms.
Newborn Nursery
Our mission is to provide each infant with skilled, compassionate nursing care. Parents are supported with the education and encouragement needed to comfortably care for the baby at home. Nursery care begins after delivery, through stabilization period and remains available around the clock. Using the approach of "mom/baby," a nurse cares for the mother and baby together.
Parents have the option to "room in" with flexibility that meets their personal needs. Individual bedside instruction for parents by nursing staff is available 24 hours a day.
Special Care Nursery
The Special Care Nursery at Piedmont (Level II) is equipped to provide special care for premature, sick and/or infants with complications. Infant care is managed and performed by a combination of skilled staff, including Neonatalogists, neonatal nurse practitioners, registered nurses and respiratory therapists.
