Piedmont Medical Center is the first organization to receive the Partnership Award from Keystone Substance Abuse Services.

The award recognizes Piedmont for its significant partnership in the treatment and prevention of substance abuse including providing leadership, volunteers and financial support to every major Keystone initiative in 2006.

“The passionate and unwavering dedication to York County and the people who live here is prominent in every commitment they make to us through the care they provide as a hospital and the leadership they provide as a community partner,” said Janet Martini, Keystone’s executive director.

In addition to recognizing Piedmont, Keystone also presented Piedmont’s community health coordinator, Pansy Yates, R.N., with its highest individual honor, the “Make a Difference Award” for her dedication, advocacy and commitment to women’s health. For 13 years, Yates has provided health education to women attending Keystone sessions. A total of 59 healthy, drug-free babies have been born to women who were enrolled during those years.

“Pansy’s motivation to make this community a better and healthier place is second to none. The energy and focus she brings to the women is remarkable, and the entire community is stronger as a result of her efforts,” Martini said.
